As could be expected, Katrien Van Hecke has created a striking Spring Summer 2012 collection, true to her trademark delicate pieces uniquely crafted in rough textiles. Katrien works solely with environmentally friendly materials which she approaches as an empty canvas to be treated and dyed using artisanal techniques, focusing on the sustainability and durability of natural fabrics. Thanks to her individual way of working with age-old techniques, Katrien has won Inside White's award for most innovative collection in Milan, captivating the jury's attention with her extensive research into natural pigments which she employs to dye washed silk to extraordinary effect.
