AGENDA: Modo Parcours 2011

Brussels is getting ready for another Modo Parcours, the yearly festival set up to promote the most avant-garde neighbourhoods of Brussels and its fashion, which will take place later this month. For three days, from 28 until 30 October, the centre of Brussels will be buzzing with more than 70 fashiondesigners, stylists, fashion schools and fashion brands waiting to face the big public. Innovating and surprising display windows, playful happenings and classy fashion shows prove that Brussels is in fact a fashion capital that holds an enormous potential in designing talent and –knowledge.

The key element in this 11th edition is the concept ‘Statement’ which can be understood as the “will to make a difference” in fashion, says Didier Vervaeren, Artistic director of Modo Brussels. When following the tour, participants follow in the footsteps of many designes who brought change and action to the fashion world by declaring their longing for change in manifestos. All projects spread out to the Dansaert-, Sint-Jacobs- and Zavel-neighbourhoods and are in full harmony with their locations. The Ritz-café in the Dansaertstraat is the start of the tour and also an informationpoint. On top of that, it holds a diverse mix of installations by young and new, but also older and more established designers, who often work together with artists from the graphic scene, the visual arts, photography and dance- or theatresector. All projects spread out to the Dansaert-, Sint-Jacobs- and Zavel-neighbourhoods and are in full harmony with their locations.

Besides the pop-up store BRUSSELS BOUTIKQ which is located in the former Brussels Centre for Fashion and Design, there will also be 2 exhibitions during the Parcours which will highlight future fashion generations on both sides of the planet. “Brussels meets Seoul meets Brussels” showcases the work of the freshmen of La Cambre; “Mode[s]” presents the result of the workshop “Full Metal Jacket”, a work shop under the management of Tony Delcampe and Didier Vervaeren with students of the Korean Samsung Art and Design Institute in Seoul.

The Modo Parcours is on Friday 28 Octobre from 11am-10pm, and Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 Octobre from 11am-6pm.
